MEDICAL SUB-COMMITTEE.

Sir Harold Fawcus reported that a Meeting of the Sub- Committee had been held that morning. A list of drugs and other medical material most urgently required was before the Sub-Committee and a letter had been addressed to a number of Firms in London asking for tenders for supplies. It would be possible to place orders and despatch goods very shortly.

CLOTHING SUB-COMMITTEE. Dame Rachel Crowdy reported that a Meeting of the Sub-Committee had been held the previous day. Lists of the type of goods most urgently needed were agreed upon and the necessity for a centre for sorting was very urgent. In this connection the Chairman said that he had not yet received a reply from the Duke of Westminster in regard to his request for the use of the building near 14, Grosvenor Crescent, and it was not likely that a reply would be received just yet. Dame Rachel Crowdy stated that with the permission of the Lord Mayor, 81, Gresham Street was a place where gifts in kind could be sent and this information had been sent to all enquirers. It was agreed that if negotiations with the Duke of Westminster came to nothing the clothing Sub-Committee should have power to take a suitable building to act as a warehouse.

Dame Rachel Crowdy, continuing, said that the sub-committee was of opinion that as soon as this work was put on a sound basis it was necessary to appoint a Clothes Committee of which the members of the Sub-Committee should be members. Dame Rachel put forward the following names: Lady Gladstone,

(Chairman), Mrs. Gull, Mrs. Gordon Lennox, Lady Hosie, Mrs. Byrne, Mrs. Paterson and Lady Salmon. Unanimous agreement was given to this proposal and power to add to the Committee when formed was also authorised.
